Angelite is a soft, baby light blue mineral variety of anhydrous calcium sulfate. (also known as anhydrite)

  • Color: Glacier blue, lilac blue, or white with grey flecks.
  • Hardness: Rates 3.5 on the Mohs scale, making it very soft and easy to scratch.
  • Composition: Made of calcium sulfate (CaSO₄) formed when gypsum deposits dehydrate over millions of years.
  • Sensitivity: Readily absorbs water and can turn back into gypsum, or fade if left too long in bright sunlight.
